Opportunity Often Meets Those Who Show Up
One thought has stayed with me recently: exposure matters.
Sometimes we pray for opportunities while avoiding the places where those opportunities are likely to appear. Scripture repeatedly shows us that God often positions people before He promotes them. Exposure is not always comfortable, but it is frequently the doorway to purpose.
Take David, for example. Had he never gone to the battlefield to deliver food to his brothers, he would never have encountered Goliath. He wasn’t sent there to fight; he was sent on an errand. Yet that moment of exposure became the defining opportunity that introduced him to a nation and set him on the path toward the throne. What looked like an ordinary assignment became an extraordinary opportunity.
Joseph’s story tells a similar truth. His journey took him from a pit to slavery, from prison to Pharaoh’s palace. At every stage, he remained faithful where he was. His ability to interpret dreams was seen because he was exposed to the right people at the right time. If he had never crossed paths with Pharaoh’s cupbearer, he may never have stood before Pharaoh. That exposure positioned him to become second in command over Egypt and to save countless lives.
These stories remind us that God often works through positioning. The people, places, and experiences we sometimes overlook may be preparing us for something greater than we can imagine.
Exposure is not about seeking attention; it is about being available. It is about showing up, serving faithfully, learning continuously, and trusting that God knows how to connect our preparation with His purpose.
So don’t despise where you are today. The meeting you almost skipped, the assignment that seems insignificant, the conversation that feels ordinary, or the place you never planned to be could become the very environment where God opens the next door.
As believers, our responsibility is to remain faithful, diligent, and willing to go where God leads. His responsibility is to open the doors that no one can shut.

Faithfulness creates readiness, and readiness often meets opportunity.
May we never become so focused on the destination that we miss the value of the journey and the exposure that prepares us for it. After all, many of God’s greatest opportunities are found simply by being present where He has called us to be.
